Frequently Asked Questions

Every address, agent appointment, and filing starts with a written quote. These answers explain the quote-first process, what each service requires, and what this service cannot guarantee.

Rules can change

Texas franchise-tax and Public Information Report duties may apply to your LLC. FinCEN currently exempts U.S.-created entities from BOI reporting, but verify current agency guidance. Confirm exactly which deadlines your written service scope covers.

Business Address & Mail
How is the service address confirmed?

The complete DeSoto service address, unit assignment, mail authority, and handling scope must be confirmed in writing before activation. A marketing page alone is not independent proof. Banks, government agencies, licensing bodies, and Google apply their own separate eligibility rules that we do not control.

What is required before mail service starts?

USPS Form 1583, identity verification using acceptable current identification, and written confirmation of the provider's complete address and mail authority are prerequisites before activation. See the full USPS compliance guide for what each step involves.

What does Form 1583 require?

PS Form 1583 ("Application for Delivery of Mail Through Agent") authorizes a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency to receive mail on your behalf. It requires your full legal name, primary address, current primary and secondary identification acceptable under USPS rules, and a witnessed signature from the CMRA owner, an authorized employee, or a notary public.

Do I need a separate Form 1583 for my LLC and for personal mail?

The required setup depends on the addressee names and whether the service is for personal or business mail. USPS expressly requires separate applications for separate personal addressees in some cases. The authorized operator must confirm the correct entries before submission.

What happens to my mail?

A written service scope may offer arrival notices and handling options — scanning, forwarding, pickup, or secure disposal — after the provider's address, mail authority, Form 1583 process, and activation date are confirmed in writing. Postage and handling fees are quoted separately before use. This site does not currently provide a customer dashboard.

Can I pick up my mail in person?

Pickup is available only if the written address authorization and service scope confirm it for your plan. Do not travel to an example or unconfirmed address; obtain the complete location and a pickup window in writing first.

Can I use this address for my Google Business Profile?

Google controls eligibility for Google Business Profiles. A virtual-office or CMRA address is not automatically eligible and may not pass Google's verification steps. We do not guarantee Google, banking, licensing, or platform acceptance — those decisions belong entirely to those organizations.

Registered Agent
What does a Texas registered agent do?

Texas requires every LLC to designate a consenting, eligible registered agent with a physical registered office in Texas (Tex. Bus. Orgs. Code § 5.201). The agent receives legal process, official state notices, and franchise-tax correspondence on the LLC's behalf during business hours. Any appointment, agent address, notice process, and start date must be confirmed in writing before filing.

What happens if my LLC has no registered agent?

Operating without a registered agent or registered office exposes the LLC to potential state forfeiture, missed legal notices, and default judgments served on the Texas Secretary of State. Maintaining a current, consenting registered agent is an ongoing obligation, not a one-time task. See our registered agent page for more.

Does submitting the form appoint you as registered agent?

No. The quote request form does not appoint anyone as registered agent. A registered-agent appointment is only effective after the eligibility review, written consent, and written confirmation from us — and after the appointment is filed with the Texas Secretary of State in your Certificate of Formation or a change-of-agent form.

Can I be my own registered agent in Texas?

Yes, a Texas LLC member or manager who is a Texas resident with a physical Texas address may serve as registered agent. The tradeoff is that your name and address become part of the public record and you must be available at that address during business hours to receive service of process. Many business owners use a third-party agent for privacy and reliability.

LLC Formation & EIN
How much does it cost to form a Texas LLC?

The Texas Secretary of State charges $300 to file a Certificate of Formation (Form 205). This is a government fee paid directly to the state — it is separate from any service fee and is non-refundable once accepted. Optional costs include registered agent service, name reservation ($40), and certified copies. See the full Texas LLC cost breakdown.

Can you help with my EIN and recurring filings?

We can prepare an EIN application and defined Texas filings within your written scope. The IRS and state agencies control approval and timing. Obtaining an EIN directly from the IRS is free; our service covers preparation and eligibility guidance. EIN applications for LLCs with foreign owners have specific rules — confirm method and timing in your quote.

What is the Texas franchise tax?

Texas LLCs are subject to the franchise tax, though many small businesses fall below the "no tax due" threshold. The threshold amount is adjusted periodically by the Texas Comptroller. Your written scope may cover a defined annual reminder, but tax advice is outside our service — consult a licensed accountant or attorney for your specific situation.

Do I need an operating agreement?

Texas does not require LLCs to file an operating agreement with the state, but having one is strongly recommended. It defines member rights, management structure, profit distributions, and what happens if a member leaves. The Establish Bundle includes an operating agreement template; a licensed attorney should review it for your situation.

Process & Pricing
What does "proposed" pricing mean?

These are published starting prices, not a checkout. Your written quote confirms the exact scope, eligibility, state fees, add-ons, and recurring terms before any payment or filing occurs. Submitting the quote request form does not create a charge or obligation. See the pricing page for a full breakdown.

How long does address or EIN setup take?

Timing begins after required information and identity checks are complete. Address activation depends on the Form 1583 process and written confirmation. EIN processing varies by applicant eligibility and IRS workload. Your written quote states the current estimate without promising a specific agency decision date.

Do I have to come in person?

Remote identity or notarization steps may be available depending on the confirmed provider, documents, signer location, and notary eligibility. Your written quote identifies any in-person requirement before approval. Do not send identity documents by ordinary email unless we expressly provide an approved secure method.

Can I change my mind or cancel later?

Recurring and one-time services have different cancellation and refund limits. Review the written quote and service terms before approval, especially after a filing has been submitted. Filing work that has already been submitted to a state agency generally cannot be reversed.

International Founders
Can a non-U.S. founder use this service?

A written scope may include Texas LLC filing and EIN-application support for an eligible international founder. Address onboarding and Form 1583 depend on the verified operator, documents, signer country, and available witness method. Agency, banking, tax, sanctions, and identity rules still apply, and we do not guarantee banking or platform acceptance.

I am an international founder with no U.S. address. What do I put on Form 1583?

Use your actual permanent address and documents that meet the current USPS acceptable identification list. International documents and remote witnessing depend on the specific document type, notary availability, country, and applicable state law. We confirm eligibility before activation — do not send identity documents before that confirmation.

Can an international founder get an EIN without a Social Security Number?

Yes, foreign nationals without an SSN can apply for an EIN using IRS Form SS-4 by phone or fax. The method and timing depend on the applicant's country, entity type, and current IRS procedures. We confirm the correct path in your written scope before proceeding.
